Infectious Disease/Travel Medicine
The Infectious Disease Clinic provides inpatient and outpatient consultation and care to adult patients with infections of the heart, lungs, sinuses, brain, urinary tract, bowel, bones, skin, and pelvic organs. Infectious disease specialists provide oversight of infection control and antimicrobial stewardship in inpatient and outpatient care, and coordinate outpatient IV antimicrobial treatment with network pharmacies and nursing services. The clinic provides long-term specialty care to patients infected with Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the cause of AIDS. The clinic also provides preventive care for persons at high risk of HIV, and for beneficiaries preparing for international travel.
